Ekalale is small on purpose. John plans every trip and guides it himself, and Moun looks after the website, the photos and the stories you see online.
Founder and lead guide
John Ekalale
John grew up in Laikipia, around wildlife, and has been guiding in Kenya for more than seventeen years. He is a KPSGA-certified guide and leads horseback, walking and game-drive safaris.
He is based in Enonkishu, in the Maasai Mara. Through Ekalale he plans each trip himself, choosing the stables, lodges and conservancies that suit his guests, and then guides them along the way. If he’s already out on another safari, one of his top guides steps in.
Guests remember the same things about him: his calm, the way he reads the bush, and how welcome he makes everyone feel.

A long-time friend of John’s, Moun has ridden with him many times and fell for the way he shows people Kenya. She knew more people had to experience it.
Today she looks after Ekalale’s website and social media, sharing John’s work and helping travellers from around the world find their way to him.
